Breast Cancer Awareness Month takes place during the month of October. Every Friday this month, LLA students and faculty wore pink T-shirts to show their support. The origin of Breast Cancer Awareness Month dates back to 1985. Betty Ford, a woman who lived with breast cancer, was a significant figure in the creation of this month. Her initial campaigns began as a week-long promotion of mammograms before it evolved into a month-long event. Eventually, the infamous pink ribbon was introduced. Breast Cancer Awareness Month not only raises awareness of the disease but also to the strong men and women who face it.
