The Loma Linda Academy family could not be more overjoyed by the pregnancies of two wonderful English teachers. Both Mrs. Ruiz and Mrs. Gardner became pregnant this school year with baby girls. Students and faculty have shown nothing but support for the two lovely teachers.
In an interview with Mrs. Ruiz about her experience during pregnancy, she said that the hardest part was the first and second trimesters because she had severe morning sickness and nothing helped. She unfortunately was even hospitalized several times because of this and is grateful to her first-period class for their kindness and patience. When asked about her pregnancy cravings she said, “Ugh, I wish. I actually have strong food aversions that come and go, so it has been really hard for me to eat even as I've gotten over the morning sickness. But I'm always down for a Taco Bell Baja Blast Freeze.” She has yet to decide on the name for her baby, but she is very excited to be having a girl.* She is also looking forward to watching her husband and brothers-in-law try to raise the first Ruiz girl. She ended by saying, “God has already blessed me innumerably with this little wonder, and I trust Him for whatever happens.”
*Editor’s update: Baby Lucia Ruiz was born on Monday, April 8.
In an interview with Mrs. Gardner about her pregnancy, she said that the hardest part was “being uncomfortable and tired, no, exhausted all the time, even from completing the simplest of tasks.” When asked about her thoughts on having a girl she said, “I am definitely excited about having a girl. I'm excited to dress her up in cute outfits for our mommy-daughter outings.” and, “[she wants] to be the type of parent my child can trust. I want her to trust me with her fears, her secrets, her full and complete self. I want to be supportive and loving, even when I don’t agree or understand. I want her to know and feel that love no matter what.” For now, the baby is being referred to as Baby G because she and her husband have decided to reveal the name after the baby is born, but they have a few ideas that they are deciding between. Mrs. Gardner also revealed that she and her husband do plan on having more kids in the future, so students can look forward to more baby Gardners.
Mrs. Ruiz took her maternity leave after Spring Break and Mrs. Gardner will be taking hers at the end of April. Students will be sad to see them go, but so happy that they will be able to meet their baby girls. The entire Loma Linda campus wishes them the best as they enter into a new phase of their lives as mothers.
